Fairbanks Jackson's Eagle Project

This project is a collaboration between Fairbanks Jackson of BSA Troop 1564 and the Bainbridge Island Land Trust to build and install 7 birdhouses throughout Springbrook Creek Preserve.

The birdhouses are sized and sited to support cavity-nesting bird species, including the Pacific Wren, which rely on enclosed nesting spaces that are scarce do to lack of old growth forest.

Why Cavity Nesters Need Our Help

Species like the Pacific Wren, chickadees, and nuthatches depend on small enclosed cavities to raise their young — but natural cavities in aging trees are rare in managed forests. Purpose-built nest boxes placed in the right habitat provide safe, predator-resistant homes and can meaningfully boost local bird populations.

Springbrook Creek Preserve's mix of riparian forest, shrub understory, and open edges makes it ideal habitat for these species year-round.
